1^ST STANZA

Nigeria, will hail thee,

Our own dear native land,

Though tribe and tongue may differ,

In brotherhood, we stand,

Nigerians all, and proud to serve,

Our Sovereign Motherland.

2^ND STANZA

Our flag shall be a symbol

That truth and justice reign,

In peace or battle honored

And this we count as gain,

To hand on to our children

A banner without stain

3^RD STANZA

O God of all creation,

Grant this our one request,

Help us to build a nation

Where no man is oppressed,

And so with peace and plenty,

Nigerian may be blessed.

·        The Two Horses: Represent dignity, nobility, and the country’s inner strength combined with peace-loving intentions.

·        The green and White Wreath: Denotes the country’s rich agricultural potential and the color of the Nigerian flag

·       The Red Flowers (Costus Spectabilis): Represent the beauty of Nigeria, as the flowers grows in all parts of the country.

“Unity and Faith, Peace and Progress”, and this was adopted in 1978.

A.   “The Security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government”.

B.   “Harness the resources of the nation and promote national prosperity and an efficient, dynamic and self-reliant economy”.

C.    “Control the national economy in such a manner as to secure the maximum welfare, freedom and happiness of every citizen on the basis of social justice and equity of status and opportunity”

A.   The Government operates presidential system and is made of Three Arms-the Executive, Legislative and the Judiciary

B.   The Federating Units consist of Three-Tiers viz Federal, 36 states and 774 local government areas including FCT, Abuja.

C.    The Federal Executive Council(FEC) consist of the President as the chairman including Ministers as members as well as other principal officers viz: SGF, HOS, NSA, COS and others

D.   The State Executive Councils comprises of the Governor as a Chairman including Commissioners as members as well as principal officers viz: SSG, HOS, CSO and others

E.    The Local Government Council consist of the Chairman and Councilors as members including Statutory Supervisors

A.   The Executive is headed by the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces; The Ministers; SGF; HOS;

B.   The Legislature is headed by Senate President; Senators; the Speaker and members of House of representatives

C.    The Judiciary is headed by Chief Justice of Nigeria(CJN); the Supreme Court; Court of Appeal; Federal High Courts and others

A.   Ministries structured into various departments, Divisions, Units and branches; The Armed forces; The Nigerian Police; Nigerian Immigration Service; The Nigerian Custom Service and other para-military agencies.

B.   Extra-Ministerial Departments including statutory bodies.

C.    Parastatals and Agencies, while some functions under Ministries, others are under the Presidency for coordination and supervisory purposes

A.   The Executive is responsible for day-day management of government business; it initiates, formulate and implement programs and projects including preparation of Budgets by prioritization of limited resources.

B.   The Legislative is saddled with the responsibilities of law making; representation and oversights including confirmation of Ministers, ambassadors and members of Commissions and statutory bodies

C.    The Judiciary is responsible for interpreting the constitution, laws and adjudicates
